Here is an article called "Visiting NY Vineyards - Your Guide to Vineyards Near NYC" that mentions Long Island Wineries.

New York state is the nation's second-largest wine producer by volume and has about 30,000 acres of vineyards and over 200 wineries. It might astound some but New York has the ideal climate, excellent soil and ample fresh water needed to grow the finest grapes for wine. To grow the best wine grapes, vineyards should be around an abundant supply of water. The various New York lakes, rivers and waterways provide NY vineyards with plenty of fresh water and temperature moderating effect needed to grow an assortment of grapes such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and other Native American varieties.

There are several NY vineyards within a short drive from New York City in the Finger Lakes, Long Island and the Hudson Valley regions. The Finger Lakes region is a water-lover's utopia, with stunning lakes, cascading waterfalls, rivers and creeks. Thus, the Finger Lakes region is New York's largest wine producing region and one of the best wine-growing areas in the country. Located in the north western region of New York state, the Finger Lakes region is centered around four major lakes: Keuka, Canandaigua, Seneca and Cayuga. There are more than 100 vineyards and wineries around these lakes.

The Long Island vineyards are located about a 100 miles east of New York City. The Long Island region is the newest wine growing area in New York and most vineyards are located on the North Fork tip of the island. The North Fork is separated from the Hamptons by the Great Peconic Bay and is characterized by its vineyards, apple orchards and potato farms giving it a more rural feel than the Hamptons. The bay and other bodies of water in the area provide the perfect climate and warm air favorable for Merlots and Chardonnays.

Within a couple of hours drive north of New York City is the Hudson Valley region. The Hudson Valley region has the ideal temperature and an abundant supply of fresh water from the Hudson River to grow excellent wine grapes. The valley is home for some of the oldest vineyards and wineries in the nation. The Hudson Valley region is conducive for growing European grapes such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.

Visiting NY vineyards is the ideal weekend getaway or day trip away from the hustle and bustle of New York City. You can stay at a New York bed and breakfast in the Finger Lakes, visit the various vineyards and sample wines while following the scenic wine trails. The Long Island and Hudson Valley vineyards are located within a two hour drive from the city, hence you can take a weekend day trip and enjoy the scenic drive and fresh air.
